Terms of Service
These terms apply to your use of wildsentry.com and WildSentry's services. If you sign a separate service agreement or accept a quote from us, that agreement takes priority where it differs from these terms.
Our services
WildSentry provides security checks, website protection (software and plugin updates, backups, uptime and malware monitoring), email and account security, cyber insurance readiness reviews, written security plans and related support. What a paid service includes is described in your quote or service agreement.
Free outside checks and the domain checker
Free outside checks and our domain checker cost nothing and come with no obligation. By requesting a check, you confirm that you own the business and the website, domain and systems you ask us to look at, or are authorized by the owner to request the check.
A check looks only at publicly visible information, such as your website, your public DNS records and services reachable from the internet, plus any access you choose to give us, at a single point in time. We don’t log in, try passwords or run tests designed to disrupt your systems. A check is for information only and is not a guarantee that anything is secure.
Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Only give us access to websites and accounts that you own or are authorized to manage.
- Provide the access we need to deliver the services, and tell us about changes that affect it.
- Pay fees on time, as set out in your quote or service agreement.
Fees and cancellation
Monthly services are billed at a flat monthly price per site or business, as set out in your quote. There are no long-term contracts: you can cancel at any time, and service continues until the end of the current billing period.
One-time services, such as insurance readiness reviews, are billed as quoted. Yearly services, such as compliance packs, are billed once a year and can be cancelled before they renew. Fees already paid are not refundable unless your quote says otherwise.
Compliance documents and insurance forms
We help you prepare written security plans, risk assessments and answers to insurance and client questionnaires, based on what you tell us and what we can verify. You remain responsible for the accuracy of anything you submit to insurers, regulators or clients, and for meeting the rules that apply to your business. We are not a law firm or an insurance agency, and nothing we provide is legal advice.
Third-party software and backups
Websites rely on software we don't control, such as content management systems, plugins, themes and hosting platforms. We test updates on a copy of your site before applying them wherever possible, but we cannot guarantee how third-party software will behave. Backups are made and kept as described in your plan, and restoring a site depends on a suitable backup being available.
No guarantee of security
No website can be made completely secure. We work to reduce risk, but we do not guarantee that your website will never be hacked, go offline or lose data.
Disclaimer
Except as expressly stated in your quote or service agreement, our website and services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WildSentry is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for those services in the three months before the claim arose.
Ending services
Either of us can end services as described in your quote. We may suspend services for non-payment or misuse. When services end, we will remove our access on request and, for a reasonable period, provide your most recent backup if you ask for it.
Using this website
The content on this website belongs to WildSentry. Please don't attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, interfere with how it works, or use it for anything unlawful.
Threat watch shows information from third-party vulnerability feeds. It may be incomplete or contain errors, and it is general information, not advice about your systems.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the website or our services after an update means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
